Facade Cleaning

Many heritage assets are cleaned inappropriately with minimal consideration to the underlying fabric of the building. We look to carry out sympathetic cleaning of heritage assets, with cleaning whilst preventing any harm to the assets our number one priority.

    Pointing

    Many historic buildings have been inappropriately and unnecessarily repointed using cement rather than lime based mortar. We look to carry out repointing work using appropriate methods and materials, carried out sympathetically in order to preserve the masonry for future generations.

    Stonework

    At Fylde conservation we know how important and how significant the stone facade of a building is, and the character the facade represents. We offer a full design and drawing service for replacement stone as well as heritage gold card stone masons for rebuilding and indenting new replacement stone.

    Terracotta Replacement

    Despite its many advantages, terracotta is suspect to several deterioration mechanisms, notably freeze thaw actions compromising the glaze, thermal cracking due to its brittle material, inappropriate cleaning and commonly, the corrosion and subsequent expansion of embedded fixings, used in the original construction with no understanding of potential future issues.
